photodom. NYC Announces Grand Opening of New Brooklyn Flagship Store This June

Expanded Retail, Full-Service Lab, and Gallery Space to Serve the Growing Analog Photography Community

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 1, 2025

Brooklyn, NY — Photodom, the premier destination for analog photography lovers, proudly announces the grand opening of its new flagship location in June 2025. Located in the heart of Brooklyn, the expanded 1,500-square-foot, ground-floor retail space will offer an even wider selection of cameras, film, and accessories, alongside enhanced lab services and a new gallery to showcase local and international artists.

Founded in September 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, Photodom was built from the ground up with community support. Through a successful GoFundMe campaign, the funds were raised to open the original location, making Photodom one of New York’s few Black-owned camera stores — and a vital cultural hub for analog photography enthusiasts.

Since opening its doors, Photodom has proudly served over 50,000 customers, hosted more than 300 events and workshops, and built a talented team of 11 dedicated team members — all united by a passion for analog photography and community engagement.

The new Photodom flagship will build on that foundation, offering:

  • Expanded Retail Space: A curated selection of film cameras, rare finds, instant cameras, accessories, and exclusive Photodom products.
  • Full-Service Lab: Upgraded facilities offering professional film processing, high-resolution scanning, and fine art printing services on-site.
  • Gallery Within the Store: A dedicated exhibition space to highlight emerging and established photographers, with a focus on community-driven shows and cultural storytelling.
  • Ground Floor Access: Located at street level for easy walk-in service, events, and community gatherings.

“We’re excited to open our doors even wider to the photography community with a space that reflects the full vision of Photodom,” said Dominick Lewis, Founder of Photodom. “This flagship is more than a store — it’s a hub where creativity, craftsmanship, and culture come together.”

“Photodom is more than just a camera store — we are a creative hub for photographers of all walks of life,” Lewis added. “We are committed to building a more inclusive photography community by providing access to gear, education, and a strong support network for image makers everywhere.”

The grand opening event will be held on June 7th, 2025, featuring special giveaways, live demos, gallery previews, and exclusive promotions to celebrate the milestone.
